One of the things Iā€™m most proud of during my time as VP Product at Sphero is establishing a user-centered approach to product development. As an engineering-forward company, it was impactful to introduce design thinking methodologies to uncover products that addressed both a user need and a business need.

Sphero indi, just now being released, is the outcome of us finding product market fit with a completely new audience for Sphero; kids ages 5-8. Teachers and parents alike had been looking for affordable products for this age range that focus on sequencing, cause and effect, and collaboration.

Through many conversations with teachers, iterations, and prototypes, we arrived at a product with the right price-tag for early learning and a play pattern that was incredibly fun for kids. We never saw kids react so positively to any other product we had tested in the past. Plus, it had something new for a Sphero product that was incredibly valuable for this age group - no app or screen required!
